We are desperately looking for Civil War re-enactors to do a Living History on Oct. 10 @ 10am at the Steiger House, 120N. Main St. Mercersburg PA to commemorate Stuart’s 1862 raid and to raise awareness about the William Squire Smith House circa 1730s, a national landmark where the first resistance to British Rule took place. The Steiger House is several doors down from the Smith House which was recently purchased by the fire dept. to be razed so a parking lot can be made. Please call Tim McCown or Karen Ramsburg for details 717-498-0364 or send us an email if you can help us.

Mr. Huzar, I began doing a Viet Cong impression this year which surprisingly has been well received and best appreciated by Viet Nam vets. However, I have also been turned away from two events because such an “impression may upset some people”.I display both original and replica items and lecture on V.C. tactics, equipment, beliefs, etc.. If this is too much for you fine, but if you think you may be interesetd in having me attend your event, I need to know more about it. Such as, how many reenactors and spectators do you expect, and what about food, etc.. Respectfully, Larry Garris

The community of Lockport, Illinois cordially invites all reenactment groups to participate in the next Old Canal Days living history timeline. The encampment will be held on Saturday & Sunday, June 16 & 17, 2012. The timeline commemorates the long and diverse history of the American experience and is just part of the many educational opportunities that are being planned at this revitalized family festival.

Participating reenactors will be provided both food and non-alcoholic beverages during the event. Straw and firewood will also be provided upon request. Groups that desire to camp on Saturday night may do so, but event organizers must know in advance.

Additionally, the festival will begin with the traditional Friday evening parade, beginning about 6:30pm on June 15, 2012. Groups that would also be willing to participate in the parade should notify event organizers. For more information about the encampment and parade, please call 1.815.838.9400 or email mharmon@gaylordbuilding.org

Thank you.

Delaware Military Museum to Host Military Heritage Day
Saturday October 20, 2012

Mark your calendar for Delaware’s premier military gathering to honor our Military Heritage on Saturday October 20. Once again Delaware Military Heritage Day returns to the historic grounds of Fort Dupont in Delaware City. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy military re-enactors from every era of Delaware military history, enjoy the music of the “Ship’s Company Shantymen” and view displays and exhibits of military importance, to name just a few of the activities scheduled.

The Delaware Military Heritage and Education Foundation will have displays of antique military vehicles, host seminar lectures by military historians and authors inside the museum building and demonstrations of military drill on the grounds. There will be activities for families and children and a silent auction. This event is designed to honor all our military veterans and to celebrate their gallant accomplishments. We invite all uniformed military veterans to attend and we hope you will join us for this free event.

The Delaware Military Museum is at Fort DuPont State Park behind the flagpole at the head of the Parade Ground. Fort DuPont is south of Delaware City on Route 9 at the northern end of the Reedy Point Bridge over the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.

Hello, I am reaching out to you from Purcellville, Virginia with hope to find WWII reenactors for Purcellville Heritage Day (May 12) Tribute to the 1940s and “The Greatest Generation”. Last year we highlighted the Civil War with reenactments and exhibits. This year we would like to have a WWII living history area, equipment & uniform displays, and possibly a small weapons demonstration.
We have $$ in our budget to pay the reenactors.
If you know of reenactors, or 1940s vehicle owners, who are local and may be interested please forward my information to them. We are also hoping to have a small car show with 1940s vehicles including some WWII if at all possible.
I hope you do!
Thanks,
Cathy Darby
