Memorial Day Parades – Coraopolis and Lawrenceville, PA

Several reenactors from the 28th Infantry Division, Co. K, participated in the Memorial Day parades in Coraopolis and Lawrenceville, PA. We met in Cora0polis and drove to Lawrenceville in Dan Evans’ 1942 Dodge weapons carrier. This was actually a very pleasant ride and we were well recieved by the crowds lining the street. The parade also featured other reenactors, including two Civil War groups.

Leaving Lawrenceville, we went back to Coraopolis and had lunch in Barto’s Bar and Grille. We had to take our kits with us as there was no wayto secure them in the truck. So, we must have been quite picturesque walking into the bar with our rifles slung over our shoulders and bayonets on our belts. The folks there were quite nice and we enjoyed some good chili dogs and a cold drink after a hot morning of parading.

The Corapolis parade was also well-attended and the enthusiastic crowds seemed to really like the old Dodge. Overall, I had a great day and was glad that I made the trip North to attend. Much thanks for Shawn and Randy Keif, Dan Evans, Rege Biggerstaff and Don Grimm.

Also, this company of the 28th has a new website, so check it out:

P.S. I really did a poor job of taking pictures this time out and I apologize for the lack of good quality pics. (Shawn, sorry I cut you in two.)

P.S. #1 I will be at the Reading Airshow WWII weekend for the rest of the week. I will have more to write about when I get back.  Check it out:
