The Associated Press is reporting that a West Virginia University class will be studying a Civil War site in the Eastern Panhandle.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – A West Virginia University history professor will produce a study on a Civil War battlefield that he hopes will help preserve it from commercial development.

Professor Peter Carmichael and a graduate school class will produce a historic resource study of the site where the Battle of Shepherdstown took place in September 1862.
