In looking at a link about Christmas Trains for my youngsters, I found out that the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad offers historic train rides this month with a WWII theme. Here’s the scoop:
This November, WMSR Goes To War!
As part of a community tribute to America’s Greatest Generation, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad will be decked out in bunting and will feature tributes by professional actors portraying legendary WWII leaders FDR and General George Patton.
- Our Saturday, November 8, ride with FDR to Frostburg, departing Cumberland at 11:30 AM.
- Saturday, November 15th, ride with General Patton, departing Cumberland at 11:30 AM.
- WWII and Korean War veterans ride for fee on both excursions.
Cumberland Goes To War is being celebrated from November 6th through 16th and will also feature Andrews Sisters and Abbott & Costello tribute performances, WWII re-enactors from the 29th Infantry Division and a B-25 Mitchell bomber fly-in at the Cumberland Regional Airport.
