Old Bedford Village in Bedford, PA held its annual WWII living history weekend on this date. The weather cooperated and the event was, as usual, a fun, laid-back affair. Reenactors present were primarily: German from the Grossdeutschland Division and 9th SS; Soviet, from the 193rd Rifle Division and 150th Guards; and American Seabees. There were a smattering of other units as well.
The Seabees threw their traditional luauau on Saturday night as a thank-you to the participants. The proceeds of the weekend go to the Village to keep it afloat financially. It is my understanding that reenactors of other time periods also contribute in a like fashion. The OBV director said that about 550 tourists came through during the weekend, making it a financial success. OBV is quite an interesting place and they love reenactors.
Anyone who hasn’t been there should check out their website and plan to go. The link is: www.oldbedfordvillage.com

Had a great time at OBV. Made many new friends. I was astonished at how many reenactors are from around my area.

Misha is with the 193rd Rifle Division and is from the SE Pennsylvania region. Anyone wanting to share a ride to an event let us know.

Jim, Horrido, I made it(To the Blog that is). Thanks for the tip.
I am sorry that I missed this good event in Bedford. Linda and I went to one in Dennison, Ohio the next week end. If I knew how to post a photo I’d do it.
